Age limit: The age bracket in respect of civilian and in service candidates would not be below 25 years of age and not above 35 years of age.

Minimum educational qualification: The minimum educational qualification for appointment to this specialist list of Junior Commissioned officers will be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university.

1. Pandit: Hindu candidates with Acharya in Sanskrit

2. Pandit (Gorkha) for Gorkha Regiments: Knowledge of Hindi and Sanskrit.

3. Granthi: Sikh candidates with Gyani in Punjabi.

4. Maulvi (Sunni) Muslim candidates with Maulvi Alim in Arabic or Adib Alim in Urdu

5. Maulvi (Shia) for Laddakh scouts: Only for Muslim Shia candidates, Maulavi alim in Arabic, adib alim in Urdu or Bachelor degree in arts with Arabic/Urdu as one of the subjects.

6. Padre: Christian male persons.

7. Bodh Monk (Mahayana) for Ladakh scouts: Monk Buddhist/Priests.

Selection Process: Screening Test of written exam, physical fitness test and Indian Army JCO skill test.
